The congregation at Harbor View Presbyterian Church regularly joins together to feed the hungry, extend hospitality to Citadel cadets, go on mission trips, provide Christmas gifts to children on behalf of their incarcerated parents, host mission groups from other parts of the country, and so much more. Our goal is simple; we strive to respond to God’s call to proclaim the Good News. We are committed to sharing God’s love with all.
Walk for water – we participate in Walk for water annually.
Serve Dinner to citadel cadets – we serve dinner at The Citadel Military College of SC before the worship gathering on Monday night, as the part of ”The Journey” (twice a year).
Backpack Buddies – each week our local churches rotate to pack food items for school children in need of food for the weekend. The items are then delivered to the schools for distribution. Our congregation collects items to fill these bags.
Angel Tree Prison Ministry – each year our congregation provides Christmas gifts to children on behalf of their incarcerated parents.
Men’s winter clothing community ministry – we collect gently used clothing in October and deliver them to a local Hispanic community in early November.
Mission Trips – We strive to sponsor a mission trip every 2 years. In recent years we have traveled to Costa Rica to help a small community build a kitchen and join them in bible study and bible school. We also went to North Carolina to help victims of Hurricane Helene and to Kentucky to spread God’s word and assist with local missions.
Wheelchair Ramp Ministry – builds ramp for handicapped people as needed
Blessing Box – we have a Blessing Box in front of our church that we stock with non-perishable food items, basic toiletries, and anything else that may be considered a blessing to someone who finds themselves in need.
James Island Outreach (JIO) – members assist with stocking and shopping on the second Tuesday of each month at 9-11:30am. Our church is responsible for collecting Jiffy Corn Bread mix for the food pantry and also contributes other items as needed.
Blood Connection Blood Drive – We regularly host blood drives at the church.
Meal in a Bag (JIO) – We contribute items to JIO to assemble Thanksgiving meals for the community.
Hosting mission groups – we provide a space for mission groups to stay.
Other – We also participate in various activities to support things like Water Missions International, Remember Niger, and host community activities.
Generosity and service are a huge part of who we are at Harbor View.
